Keeping up with the Joneses. A seemingly "harmless" remark from
a loved one. The workday that makes us wonder if we are still
gainfully employed- all aspects of our daily lives that can send
our personal power haywire- assuming it has already been
sufficiently developed and nurtured. A solid "inner armor" is an
important tool to have in our life arsenal so the challenges we
face on a day-to-day basis do not do us in. Harriet Rubin's
quote suggests an approach that make the cultivation of ...

A few weeks ago I wrote about a bike ride I'd completed and how
a goal-setting process helped me accomplish something well
beyond what I'd ever done before. One reader replied talking
about setting goals for herself. That she needed to set specific
goals, because she usually just tries to have it all, and she
can't.
I probably could have focused on the message about setting
specific goals. Instead another word jumped out at me in that
email. "Can't."
Did you ever hear a quote to the effect of ...

"The creation of a work of art, like an act of love, is our one
small 'yes' at the center of a vast 'no.'" -- Gore Vidal,
Novelists and Critics of the 1940's, New World Writing #4, 1953.
Art, in its varied forms, is the essence of humanity. An
examination of the music, sculpture, painting, and writings of
any given time and society gives us perhaps the clearest insight
into the lives, emotions, and ponderings of mankind.
I am an avid student of history, wanting to know more and ...

Worth And Humanitarianism
By Punkerslut
I will not live forever. All of the people around me will not
live forever, either. There have been various groups to assert
that there is eternal life, "eternal salvation," but such claims
bring with them no evidence and often find themselves in mockery
of reason and intellectual examination. However, the point of
this essay is not to criticize religion, nor is it to criticize
religionists. Whether or not there is an afterlife, there is the
life: our ...

While aspects of you encourage, 'Go for your dreams,'
simultaneously other parts threaten, 'Don't you dare.' A cast of
characters lives inside of you and at different times you may
receive conflicting or contradictory messages. If you are want
to be happy, successful, and fulfilled, consider putting your
'dreamer' in the director's chair.
What are the voices inside of you saying? As you turn the volume
up on the voice of your dreamer and down on the voice of your
doubter, you can practice ...

Take the first step...
What is it you want? Where do you want to go? Now you know where
you are going, think about where you are now. What's the first
thing that you need to do to get moving? If possible, do it
today. Life is full of "if only" and "I couldn't because". Don't
be someone full of regrets because of what you didn't do, be
someone who is full of stories of what they have done.
Keep taking steps.... even if they feel like baby steps!
We all have those days where it feels like ...

This may seem like a very strange title for an article. After
all, a vacation is supposed to be' a vacation. The title seems
to imply that we should strive to make our vacation, somehow
strategic or productive. In a way, that is what I am suggesting,
but maybe not in the anal-retentive way you might have first
guessed.
I write this during a week of my vacation, because I have a
weekly writing quota so I don't disappoint my loyal newsletter
readers. I could have run a repeat article, or I could ...

Sometimes a person comes along that has potential greatness
written all over them. That something special that Muhammed Ali,
Elvis Presley, Ric Flair, and a select handful of others
possessed. That something that let's you know that you're in the
presence of someone who literally transcends whatever their
field of endeavor happens to be. Folks, these type people seldom
come along, and, if you read their biographies, you'll find that
most knew years before they hit it big that they would. ...

Our deepest fear us not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear
is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our
darkness, that most frightens us'..We are born to manifest the
glory of God that is within us'.And as we let our own light
shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the
same. Nelson Mandela
Today more than ever we live in times of public murder via
internet and the awareness of the dirty little secrets of
wartime interrogation. Yet, this weekend we ...

It's been an emotional week this week, in a lot of ways. I don't
think that there are any of us, reading this, who have failed to
be touched by the events that happened in London on Thursday, in
some way. I was actually in London on Thursday, on an NLP
course, in Hammersmith, and as reports started coming in, one of
the first thoughts was letting my loved ones, friends & family
know how I was, and that I was safe and away from the trouble.
Amazingly on the course, we spent some time sending out ...
